I'm taking over for Sierra Godfrey today while she's on maternity leave. Since I did the inciting event last time I was there, were thought it would be fun to talk about middles this time. I'm On the Road: Get Inspired

Amanda's Wrinkled Pages has a great series that talks to authors about finding inspiration in unlikely places. Today, she's letting me take the stage (or is that the page?) and telling a few stories about things that inspired me and what I learned from them. 

It’s Everywhere!
When Amanda first asked me about writing something for her Get Inspired series, she said she was looking for stories about inspiration from unexpected places. One such event popped into my mind immediately, but in reality, I get inspired from weird places all the time. I’m a firm believer that inspiration is all around us, and the trick isn’t to find inspiration, but to figure out what to do with all those bits and pieces of it.

I'm On the Road: A Working Writer

Today I'm being interviewed over at Working Writers, so pop on over and say hello!

Tell us a bit about The Healing Wars.
The Healing Wars is my teen fantasy trilogy (The Healing Wars: Book I: The Shifter, The Healing Wars: Book II: Blue Fire, and the upcoming The Healing Wars: Book III: Darkfall) that follows a war orphan named Nya, who has the unique ability to heal by shifting pain from person to person. When her younger sister disappears, this ability turns out to be the only weapon she has to save her. I had a lot of fun with it, because Nya faces some painful morally gray areas where there is no clear cut right or wrong. Her ability hurts as well as helps, and she has to decide how far she’s willing to go to save her sister. It’s all about choices and what we’re willing to do for those we love. Mixed up with a rollicking fantasy adventure of course. And a very cool magic system based on healing and pain.
