Writing Prompt: The Chain Story: Is It the Flu?

By Janice Hardy, @Janice_Hardy

This week’s prompt is a chain story! I’ll give you the first line, and someone else comments and builds off that line. Next commenter will build off that line, and so on.

In the event of two commenters posting at the same time and sending the story in different directions, just pick the line you like best, or try to incorporate both if you can.

The inspiration for this comes from me being sick for over a week.

She was pretty sure it was the flu, except…

  5. "Vacation" she had been told when she first enquired but she knew that was not the answer for her - she had never felt less able to enjoy herself. But although she had largely ignored it, she knew there had been excessive encouragement for Normals re ...she checked her device..."Vac"...oh oh "Vac-IN-ation"

  6. It wasn't a vacation that the Norms took. She read the word streaming across her device, vaccination. What sort of antigenic material would be necessary to rid her of whatever plagued her. A strange choice of words, she thought.

  7. If a vaccination would help her overcome her malady, she would get herself to the nearest Healer, regardless of exposure risks.
