Writing Prompt: The Chain Story: The Cupcake

By Janice Hardy, @Janice_Hardy

This week’s prompt is a chain story! I’ll give you the first line, and someone else comments and builds off that line. Next commenter will build off that line, and so on.

In the event of two commenters posting at the same time and sending the story in different directions, just pick the line you like best, or try to incorporate both if you can.

If he’d wanted the cupcake, he’d have taken the damn cupcake.

Let the fun begin.

    1. But no, he put it back - as he said if he'd wanted it it would be gone by now and he was not letting her change his mind.

  5. It's damn hard to want a cupcake with somebody shooting at you from the dark streets of this damn little Afghanistan town. What was its name again? He'd explain later to Corporal Messenger later about the cupcake. She'd have to wait a little while. She was, after all, laying under him because he had pushed her down when the rapid-fired AK47 slugs began to chip away at the side of the kolat.

  6. Pastry filled the air with splatters of frosting. Even those damn sprinkles felt like my childhood days when salt hit us from pellet gun wars back in Idaho.

    1. Suddenly returning to lucidity, he realised he was not, in fact, in a war zone, but sitting in the cafeteria of Carriger Mental Hospital where he had lived in varying states of consciousness for the past two years. He looked up at the nurse standing patiently in front of him, and told her that no, he didn't want the cupcake.
