Happy Release Day, Darkfall!

Darkfall officially releases today, yippee! How am I celebrating? Lunch with the hubby! Yep, I'm a wild one for sure. There's actually a lot of prep work for a release, so by the time it comes out I'm beat. The 30 days before and after are pretty full, and I have a huge To-Do List I delight in checking off. It's all fun stuff (well, mostly), but it does put a hold on just about everything else in my life. I can be wild later when it's all over.

On a related note, I'm doing a Q&A over at Charity's Writing Journey, so pop by and say hello. More guest posts and interviews coming up as well, and I'll keep you posted on those.

So, what's the book about? Kinda like this...

War has come.

Nya’s the one who brought it. And the people love her for it.

With Baseer in shambles and Geveg now an impenetrable military stronghold, Nya and the Underground have fled to a safer location—without Tali. Nya is guilt-ridden over leaving her sister behind and vows to find her, but with the rebellion in full swing and refugees flooding the Three Territories, she fears she never will.

The Duke, desperate to reclaim the throne as his own, has rallied his powerful army. And they are on the move, destroying anyone who gets in the way.

To save her sister, her family, and her people, Nya needs to stay ahead of the Duke’s army and find a way to build one of her own. Past hurts must be healed, past wrongs must be righted, and Nya must decide: Is she merely a pawn in the rebellion, a symbol of hope—or is she ready to be a hero?

If you'll forgive me for some shameless self-promo

Praise for Darkfall:

"A conflicted, complex heroine to the end, Nya anguishes over the potential pain and death she will trigger to preserve what she loves...the finale offers suspense, resolution of prior wrongs, the sweetness of first love and a battle-tested heroine who fights with her head and heart."

  14. Congratulations. I had my first book launch last week, but I haven't even had time to celebrate, because I'm so buried in revisions for the next two. So have a glass of something for me, and eventually, I hope to do some celebrating, too.

    This series certainly sounds exciting.

  15. Congratulations!

I've read enough of Shifter (Book 1 in the Healing Wars trilogy for the future newcomers) so far to know why you and Nya were able to go the distance.

I haven't finished Shifter yet, (I will because it's a great read and helps me get your take on my own writing better) but I've read far enough to know I like it, for the same reasons I love reading historical fiction, but don't write it well at all.

I'm too much a coward to write about war and old fashioned ideas of what men and women can and/or should be.

But I can appreciate when other writers do it so well and use past events and societal inequalities to their advantage for plot and characterization.

Whereas I find it very hard to do that in my own writing.

I think it's just one of those things that will take me awhile to use effectively, rather than something I don't ever want to do.

Anyway, kudos for you to officially bring your trilogy to a close. I know from reading your past posts you worked insanely hard to get to this day.

One day I will have my own milestones to share
    (Being reasonably optimistic)

For 2012,I'll do my best to make something happen. However big or small.

So keep a sharp eye out.

    Ciao for now.
