Characters

Characters are the people in your novel, and they consist of several layers. Your main characters are your protagonist (the hero) and the antagonist (the villain), secondary or supporting characters are the people closest to your main characters, and then you have the minor characters, who serve in smaller roles. You'll also see throw-away characters, who are those people who fill spots that don't affect the story, such as waiters or random strangers the major characters briefly interact with.
