Announcing the Fiction University Newsletter!

By Janice Hardy, @Janice_Hardy

I’m excited to (finally) launch the Fiction University Newsletter!

It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but I wanted it to fit in with the site’s educational theme and my goal of helping writers improve their craft and careers. Naturally, I had to try dozens of different options and ideas before I found the right path for me.

The Fiction University Newsletter will focus on tips, tricks, and advice about writing, being an author, and the crazy world of publishing. And like on the site, you won’t find advice just from me—I’ll be bringing in the occasional guest author or publishing professional to share other perspectives and processes to a problem or skill.

Subscribers will also be the first to hear about new books, classes, or workshops, as well as special opportunities.

Each month I’ll explore on a theme, alternating (more or less) between craft and living the writers’ life. Craft months will share tips and advice on a particular skill, while the Writers’ Life months will share tips on being a writer and dealing with common problems writers face. Consider them mini-workshops if you will.

As a big “thank you!” for signing up, you’ll receive my book, 25 Ways to Strengthen Your Writing Right Now (PDF format).

What you’ll get each month:
  • Articles on the monthly theme
  • Writing exercises
  • Books of the month: One recommended craft book, and one recommended novel
  • News on events, appearances, and new releases from me
  • A chance to win a 5-page critique from me

The first issue comes out June 1, tackling the frustrations of getting stuck—from writer’s block to scenes that won’t work, to finding the time (and energy) to write.

Ready? Then sign up now!
