Sometimes the plot threads suggest complications for the characters that, while fun to read, would be painful to write simply because it adds further layers of plot to deal with. *sigh* And that's just with a sequel. I can't imagine the horror of tying up a trilogy!Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00456068019298922261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-54697438687370946982010-09-18T14:21:02.010-04:002010-09-18T14:21:02.010-04:00The plot stuff I planned for later books I did, bu...The plot stuff I planned for later books I did, but I didn't realize how important the other stuff would become later. Even if it's just list notes like "X has crush on narrator" to be checked off as they're resolved. :-)Carradeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05431561739001270522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-21511345495552232532010-09-17T12:32:48.630-04:002010-09-17T12:32:48.630-04:00Can't wait to read the book to see how you did...Can't wait to read the book to see how you did it all.Natalie Aguirrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03756087804171246660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-19789248433519541942010-09-17T10:46:51.887-04:002010-09-17T10:46:51.887-04:00Lydia, my husband and I have actually been talking...Lydia, my husband and I have actually been talking about doing something with the posts. I think targeted workbooks on topics might be nice. One on POV, one on revision, etc. Provide worksheets and exercises to go with it. I'll probably do a test book over the holidays to see how folks like them.

Jaleh, I figure readers are just more critiquers :) I do listen, and if I agree with what they say I try to apply it, same as I would any other feedback. I've read reviews where I thought, "I wish I'd noticed that!" I'm not going to change my story, but if I see a frequent comment I take it seriously.Janice Hardyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02356672149097741248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-10877142453917430062010-09-17T09:16:05.279-04:002010-09-17T09:16:05.279-04:00I think it's wonderful that you considered rea...I think it's wonderful that you considered reader comments from the first book and incorporated some of those elements into the later part of the series. I'm not sure how many writers would be willing to do that, if they even bothered to read the comments before finishing the work completely.

It's also neat to see how you work in a way that we can find strategies that might help us with our own stories.Jaleh Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04942272578488986874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-35080354659767414432010-09-17T09:10:56.893-04:002010-09-17T09:10:56.893-04:00Another great post, Janice. :) I'm tempted to ...Another great post, Janice. :) I'm tempted to ask you for a book version of your blog advice.
