I've noticed that it's usually fairly obvious when someone is just the wrong reader for that story or it wasn't their kind of book. Feedback either is of the "just didn't like it" variety, or suggestions are pushing the book away from what the author wants and turning it into something else. I always call feedback "a sample ...Nicely put. I always call feedback "a sample poll": they aren't WRONG and aren't saying you're WRONG, they just represent a share of your voters--um, readers--who would like more of X here. So the question is, can you satisfy them too without hurting too many of your other people or your principles... because often it just takes a small change here or there.

Best of all, you nailed the trick to doing that. Too often, a reader sees only part of a situation, and we need to know how many ways we could really fix it.Ken Hugheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02732164204232936705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-79696772911690548552014-07-24T07:11:13.971-04:002014-07-24T07:11:13.971-04:00I'll have to tell him thanks. It's such a subjective process and there's no clear example of success to gauge our work against. We have to believe in ourselves and what we're trying to do or we'll spend time spinning our creative wheels when we should be creating.Janice Hardyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02356672149097741248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-49414995513167786602014-07-24T07:06:39.967-04:002014-07-24T07:06:39.967-04:00And as always, thanks! Afternoons I can write about writing, so these articles get written then. Or on the weekends.
