If the narrator also showed the POV of other characters in the same scene, that would be full omniscient.

The limited basically means "one character's POV at a time."

The distance refers to the narrative distance you're using, on a scale from tight/close and in the head of that character, or outside that character as if watching them.Janice Hardyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02356672149097741248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-36261658156505767992022-11-04T11:07:39.515-04:002022-11-04T11:07:39.515-04:00SO was the Game of Thrones writed with distance Li...SO was the Game of Thrones writed with distance Limited third? Because in second part (when the point of view character is seven years old boy bran), narrator is giving some information which bran cannot notice in that age. For example: ''Jon was fourteen, an old hand at justice.'' I found a lot of example like that. This part doesnt fully sounds to me bran point of view. I can hear narrator sound and knowledge. İt is true that in all part we see what bran can see or read only bran thoughts but narrator is also adding his knowledge also. İs it called ''distance Limited third''? What is the limitation of ''distance Limited third''?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901370917824739259.post-2041796557877159352019-05-10T14:59:06.890-04:002019-05-10T14:59:06.890-04:00Great, I like that approach. You don't want to risk the prose reading as if you randomly change it and some pieces feel close and others far.

In your case, being tighter with your protagonist and farther with the alien POV would probably be fine. A little distance to show the alien POV could give it a more human perspective and still maintain an alien vibe. But if your narrator is someone like Death from The Book Thief, who is very involved in the tale, then you could have a much tighter narrative distance. Just want to clarify what I'm reading: we CAN mix the tight and far 3rd person limited, correct?: " There’s also a variety of ways you could blend these and add more voice or internalization to the far narrative distance to give it a more personal tone.
