Writing Prompt: The Chain Story: The Tale of the House

By Janice Hardy, @Janice_Hardy

This week’s prompt is a chain story! I’ll give you the first line, and someone else comments and builds off that line. Next commenter will build off that line, and so on.

In the event of two commenters posting at the same time and sending the story in different directions, just pick the line you like best, or try to incorporate both if you can.

The house told the real story, if you listened hard enough.

Let the fun begin.

    1. but today it didn't appear , children cluttered there as usual. But this incident was as uncommon as a superstitious scientist . This is bolstered by two facts ...the very punctual shyam dada who with his white bus with splashes of irremovable paint .they tell he will enbark his presence even when the town would conquered by some lions .the other reason is the simplest one that it was no holiday that day . Then milkman who lives in the periphery of town ...the same place where shyam dada would reside .but he not only brought his German cow but a news

  3. You could hear the sigh of the wind through the cracks of the windows, now void and binkless. "I miss them", it would say, "will they return?". You could as well feel the soft thuds on the door when it tried to move, if only a little, for it did not exactly fit in the frame. Someone had opened it too many times that night long ago, to peer outside. And someone else had finally banged it close, making it shiver on its hinges.
You could hear the empty space inside as well... Not too empty, maybe, for a lot of the furniture stayed in yet, eating the sound as it came. You could hear also your own steps on the stairs, like an echo of some other feet.

  7. As i stood frozen in anticipation of what was behind those glowing eyes, the creature vanished without a sound. i began to wonder if id only imagined it. i quickly turned and headed back up the stairs into the main house. just as i stepped into the dinning room and past the threshold a chilling draft slammed the door closed behind me.
