A Brief, Sad, Break

My husband and I lost our sweet girl, Nikki, on Saturday. She was the most lovable kitty I'd ever known, always ready for a snuggle or a pet. It has been a privilege to have her in our lives these last twelve years.

She'd been sick for several weeks, and we found out Friday it was advanced cancer and there was nothing we could do. As much as we wanted to hold on, it was best for her to let her go.

We had one last good morning filled with love and snuggles and sunshine on the porch, and then said goodbye. She was deeply loved, and will be deeply missed.

My guest authors and contributors will continue to post this week, but I'll be taking a break. I'll return next Monday. I thank you all for understanding.

  15. I'm so very sorry to hear this. Nothing can take the pain away except for time, and yet, it will still be there. When you are ready, perhaps you can bring another little one into your home. So many out there need loving homes.

My deepest condolences, Janice, on the passing of your beloved fur baby. The kindest and most loving thing we can do for them is to let them go when it's time. But the decision never gets any easier, I know. The only thing I've found that helps is the solace of wonderful memories, the healing passage of time, and the reassuring knowledge that they will always live with me deep inside my heart. Hugs to you.

  33. I'm sorry to hear that. When I read the first line, I was actually pretty shocked because I read it as "We lost our (human) daughter". I don't even know if you have a daughter. Anyway, my condolences.

  37. I'm so sorry to hear about Nikki. Losing a cat is one of the worse experiences ever, and no words can ever express the feeling that's sitting inside your stomach right now. Remember all the good times you had together and the pain will eventually go away.
